Introduction
This report describes activities to monitor three Anne Arundel County well fields for land surface subsidence. It includes a report by the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) that describes its work in 1994 to establish bench marks in the well fields. The report by SHA also presents the results of its survey to those bench marks by precise levelling and the use of Global Positioning System (GPS). Special efforts have been made to document, with maps and photos, the locations of the level lines, the well fields, and the becnch marks because GPS is used annually to determine heights of the subsidence monitoring bench marks.
